Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services Inc. (Ishar)

Ishar is based in Mirrabooka, Perth, and supports the health and wellbeing of women of all ages and from all cultural backgrounds. Ishar uses a holistic approach grounded in the Social Model of Health, recognising that women’s health is shaped by the interconnected influences of personal, social, economic, cultural, racial, age and gender factors.

Ishar provides culturally responsive services that support women’s physical, emotional and social wellbeing in a safe and inclusive environment.

Sister Project

Sister Project is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Ellenbrook, Perth, that supports and empowers women from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeker backgrounds. Since 2019, it has helped more than 500 women from over 30 countries through a wide range of community programs and activities.

Sister Project offers:

  • Weekly English and digital literacy classes to build confidence and communication skills
  • Workshops and social activities that foster connection, creativity, and wellbeing
  • Opportunities for women to develop skills and earn income, including sharing and selling art, craft, and cooking
  • Support with navigating the Australian system, building networks, and exploring pathways to employment or business ventures

The organisation takes a holistic approach – strengthening women’s confidence, sense of belonging and economic empowerment through education, connection and community participation.
